  • Lauren Brittsan, LPC, PMH-C

Lauren Brittsan is the founder and primary therapist at MHFW. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Masters in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver and is certified in perinatal mental health.

Lauren’s passion for helping women heal through the power of counseling and community is the direct result of her drive to normalize the need for mental health support, as well as her own lived experiences.

She works with women across the reproductive lifespan - particularly those struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and individuals wanting to better understand all the stressors that come with life's changes and transitions. Lauren's specialty in perinatal mental health allows her to support those needing help as they navigate preconception planning, pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. She is trained in Perinatal Narrative Exposure Therapy (P-NET) which is a modality focusing on exploring and processing trauma related to birth, traumatic pregnancy, pregnancy/infant loss and more.

Her warm and empathetic approach makes her especially skilled at helping individuals and couples navigate difficult experiences such as high risk pregnancies and infertility. Lauren provides support to those who have experienced a perinatal loss and are in need of bereavement counseling.

Her goal is always to provide a non judgmental and warm environment where she can support her clients as they heal and cope.

  • As a therapist, and as a human, supporting people is at the heart of everything I do. I am particularly dedicated to working with children and parents to improve communication and manage complex mental health situations. I focus on human connection and understanding the entire family, or social system, in order to help. I have experience navigating IEP and 504 Accomodation Plans in school and can assist if this is something your family is navigating.

I put a neurodiversity affirming lens on my work and my niche is helping families navigate diagnoses like ADHD and how it can impact all aspects of family life, especially with comorbid diagnoses like Anxiety and Depression. If your child or teen is showing signs that they might need help, or you could use someone to talk to, please reach out.

I take a very individualized and person-centered approach to my work as a clinician, using various techniques and modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Parent Management Training (PMT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Integrative Parent Coaching, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness and Expressive Therapies (for younger kids). I take a very Attachment-Based or Family Systems approach to working with parents and their children.
